Deerskin Designs specializes in creating custom items made from genuine deerskin. The company's main products are handbags in the Southwestern style, as well as pillows and valances to decorate the home.

Connie and her husband Jim started Deerskin Designs fifteen years ago in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Their work is distributed world wide including exclusive boutiques in Japan, England, and Australia and throughout Europe. In the U.S. their bags are in shops from Gatlinburg, Tennessee to Honolulu, Hawaii, including the prestigious Roy Rogers Museum in Los Angeles, California.

In 2003, Jim had a heart attack and the Thatchers decided they needed to do less retail and make a change in their marketing strategy branching out the product line to designing and manufacturing home accessories from deerskin.

All deerskin designs are made of the softest deerskin from Montana, and are available in a variety of earth tones. When fur is used in the trim, it has been professionally tanned, and only the highest quality furs (such as fox, beaver or coyote) are incorporated into the design. Every bag is an original, since the natural edges of the deer hides are used to make the flap and trim. Each bag is created as an individual work of art and the long fringe is hand cut.

When you buy a Deerskin Designs handbag, you are purchasing a piece of wearable art that can also be displayed on a wall of your home.
